Dansko Shoes and Clogs

Once upon a time in a far away land called Denmark there was a handsome equestrian instructor named Peter. Peter was summoned to a horse farm north of Boston, when he arrived at the farm he saw a fair maiden and instantly fell in love. The fair maiden was named Mandy and she was the daughter of the horse farm owner, when she laid eyes on Peter she too fell in love at first sight. Peter and Mandy were married and lived at their horse farm in Pennsylvania. One day they went to Peter’s home town in Denmark to buy horses and Mandy found a closed back clog which sent her heart a pitter patter. Mandy immediately bought the precious clog and raced back home with it to show all her friends. To Mandy’s great surprise and delight everyone wanted a pair of the lovely clogs. Peter and Mandy made trip after trip to Denmark and back bringing as many clogs as they could carry to sell out of the back of their Volvo. One day Peter and Mandy were talking about the great demand for the clogs and decided to open their own shoe business. That is how Dansko, which means Danish shoe, was born. Mandy wanted to expand on the clog business and make sandals, boots and lighter, prettier shoes, Peter agreed as long as the comfort was not jeopardized.

Today the Dansko name is well known and that small business which started with 1 clog design and 1 employee has grown to 130 employees and hundreds of designs. Dansko Professional shoes are very popular work shoes commonly seen on medical professionals, chefs, and any profession that requires standing for long periods at a time including the original starting place of equestrian workers and enthusiasts. Dansko is not just for the work place, if you want happy feet then slip on Dansko. Providing footwear that is healthy for the feet and back while looking stylish and fun is what Dansko is all about and Dansko is proud that many of their shoe designs carry the seal of acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association which means that the shoes have passed rigorous evaluations proving that they promote quality foot health.

If you can’t find a certain employee at the Dansko office perhaps you should check out the local community charities to find them there. Dansko provides time off with pay to their employees to volunteer at charities such as the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, the Good Kids Campaign run by the YMCA, Camp Dream Catcher, and Canine Partners for Life. You might also find employees cooking for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, planting trees for the Stroud Water Research, or out shopping for one of the many families that they have adopted for Christmas. Dansko is truly a company that stands behind their belief that we should leave this world in a better state than we found it just because it is the right thing to do. Even the new office that was recently built is a green building that is Silver LEED certified. Great shoes, wonderful company values, do we really need to say more?
